One of us is a dad with two kids. One is new to the area. One went to Hopkins and never left, fifteen years and counting. Ask the three of us what's worth doing this week and you get three different answers.
One person's best-of misses half the city. So we don't read it one way. We read every venue calendar and listing a different way for each kind of night out, then send the handful actually worth leaving the house for.
We're not claiming we've been to every room. We're claiming we'll find you the night you'd have missed.
The Problem We Solve
Baltimore has more going on than anyone can track. The problem? It's scattered across venue calendars, ticketing sites, Instagram, and listings. Nobody has time to check all of them every week.
We read everything into one place, then the personas rank it. You get the handful actually worth doing this week, once a week, so you can plan ahead.
The personas
Think of it like a bunch of locals reading each event from a different angle. They don't just check boxes — they read the descriptions and ask the questions you'd ask. When several agree, that's a pick.
Culture Vulture
Maya, 29 — “Is this worth seeing before it closes?”
Tracks the gallery openings, shows, exhibits, and live performance across the city. Reads for what’s actually worth seeing — and what’s closing soon.
Budget Hacker
Tanya, 27 — “Can I have a great night for under $20?”
Knows the free shows, real happy hours, and where the deal is actually a deal. Flags a great night out that doesn’t cost $80, and calls out a “deal” that’s just marketing.
Active Explorer
Chris, 31 — “Will this get me outside and moving?”
Finds the trails, group rides, run clubs, fitness classes, and rec leagues across Baltimore. The counterweight to a calendar full of bars and galleries.
Social Connector
Jordan, 33 — “Is this actually a good hang?”
Reads the room — which nights are a good group hang or date night, not just a good lineup. The vibe read no other persona does.
Plan-Ahead
Marcus, 36 — “Do I need tickets, and will it sell out?”
Tracks on-sale dates and sell-out history so you don’t miss the show. Flags what to grab tickets for before it’s gone.
The Single Adult
Devin, 30 — “Is this easy to go to on my own?”
Reads for the nights that are genuinely good solo — a bar with a seat at the counter, a show you don’t need a group for. The picks that don’t assume you’re bringing five people.
Seasoned Local
Yvonne, 68 — “Would I actually go to this, and is it built for someone who wants a seat, a reasonable hour, and something worth the trip?”
Forty years going out in this city, and nobody on this list goes out more. She catches the 2pm matinee and the Tuesday lecture, and knows a 10pm door means an 11pm show.
How Events Make the Cut
Events earn consensus scores based on how many personas recommend them and how strongly. The "Top Pick" each week has several personas in agreement. Section placement is driven by which personas care most:
- Top Pick: Near-unanimous persona agreement (90+ score)
- After Dark: Social Connector approved — nightlife and late shows
- Book Now: Plan-Ahead flagged — sells out fast
- Free & Cheap: Budget Hacker stamp of approval
- Culture Corner: Culture Vulture exclusive
- Worth It Solo: The Single Adult — easy to go alone
Our Coverage
We read across the whole city — music rooms, restaurants and bars, galleries, theaters, markets, and trails — plus the city's ticketing and listings.
How We Curate
Every week, our automated pipeline reads across 60+ venue calendars and the city's ticketing and listings. Events are deduplicated, normalized, and enriched with location, cost, and category data.
AI personas then independently score each event, each from its own angle — arts, nightlife, outdoor, budget, planning, going solo, decades of local memory. Events with strong consensus scores make the weekly list. Then one of us reads the final selection before it goes out.
Transparency: We are not paid to feature any event. Our curation is editorial, not sponsored. If that ever changes, we'll disclose it clearly.
